Slice – 张钰卿 YUQING ZHANG

2022-2023

After graduating from university, I lived alone on a mountain between 2022 and 2023. I always collect some discarded small pieces of paper, such as airplane tickets, wrapping papers or train tickets, and then use acrylic paint to depict the daily things in my life on them, such as moldy tomatoes, cut peaches and hawthorns, pink sea urchins brought back from the trip, and cicada exoskeletons under the trees… The peaceful feeling expanded my perception of them. I just felt that I was looking at them in the most honest way, leaving slices of them, about their structure, and also about time itself.

大学毕业以后，我在2022-2023年之间独自一人住在山上。我喜欢搜集一些废弃的小纸片，比如飞机票、包装纸或火车票等，然后在上面用丙烯画我生活里的日常事物，比如发霉的番茄、切开的柚子与山楂、旅行带回来的粉色海胆、树下面的蝉蜕…平静的感觉扩大了对它们的感知，我只觉得我在用最诚实的方式注视着它们，留下它们的切片，有关于它们的结构，也有关于时间本身。
